MINISTRY OF INFORMATION, CULTURE AND TOURISM
A total number of 7,100 assignments were covered by the staff of Directorate of Press and Public Relations from 29th May, 2007 to March 26,2009. Some of the equipment procured for the unit are: one canon still camera; one chufi flash, one elemax SH 200 Generator; one Konica/Monola digated camera; Two canon E05 350d digital camera; Two zoomless 80mm-300mm; Digital editing suite. Also, government has purchased appropriate working tools for Information Officers to enhance job performance.
Meanwhile, years 2008 and 2009 calendars and diaries with 13-point Agenda of Governor Alao-Akala's administration were produced while publication of pictorial achievements of the present admininatration was also handled by this department.
A sum of Four hundred and fifty thousand naira(#450,000.00) was released to the Ministry for procurement of public Address Equipment(PAE).
The Graphic Arts unit acquired new working tools. This includes sets of computer with necessary accessories.
The state Government released a sum of Five hundred and eighty seven thousand naira (#587,000.00) to rehabilitate some Ministry's vehicles.
The state Government released funds for the following festivals for the State contingent's participation at the following State, Federal and International levels;
i. National Festival of Arts and Culture(NAFEST 2007) was held between 3rd and 9th September, 2007 in Makurdi, Benue State. Also NAFEST 2008 was held at Enugu from 4th 12th Oct.,2008.
ii. Abuja Carnival 2007 was held between 23rd and 25th November,2007 and 2008 where our float of snail came 2nd while King and Queen came 5th.
iii. Argungu International Fishing Festival in Kebbi State between Tuesday 11th March Saturday 15th March,2008.
iv. International Festival of Masks, Masquerades and Maripnettes organized by Institute of Cultural Studies, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State which was attended between 8th 13th April, 2008.
v. Oyo State Government released fund for the state contingent that attended the International Festival of Arts and Culture tagged Cubadisco In Cuba held between 19th and 25th May, 2008.
vi. Participated at the ECOWAS CARNIVAL 2008 in Accra, Ghana between 19th and 21st September, 2008.
vii. Organized the Oyo State Festival of Arts and Culture held at the Cultural Centre, Ibadan from 20th to 23rd October, 2008.
viii. Attended the world Festival of Yoruba Arts and Culture organized by Alaroye Group on 11th and 12th November, 2008 at Ile-Ife, Osun State.
ix. A Cultural Textile Exhibition was organized in April, 2008.
2. Appointment of 19 Young Artists: To promote and propagate Culture, the present administration appointed nineteen (19) young artistes to enhance the performance of the State Troupe.
3. Renovation of the Cultural Centre. The Centre which was constructed in 19 for the first time was renovated by this administration.
4. Documentation/Research on Oyo State Cultural Heritage. The essence is to genuinely identify the cultural potentials of the State and plan effectively for their utilization for economic/revenue generation purpose as well as helping to adequately implement cultural policies.
5. As a way of encouraging/supporting cultural group in the State, the State Government donated various sums of money to the following organizations/groups.
Ayan Agalu Soungobi towards Drumfest 2008 30th Anniversary of Late Duro Ladipo M.O.W;
2008 Miss Oodua Culture Beauty Show.
1st ever Egungun Carnival 2008;
Travelscope Magazine towards Ogbomoso Youth Tourism Cultural Show.

6. In order to showcase the richness of the Arts, Culture and Tourism potentials that abound in the State, Government has approved the organization of:
(i) 2009 Oyo State Culture, Arts and Craft Exhibition.
(ii) Oyo State Festival/Carnival, 2009.
