Ministry of Health

  • Hospital Equipment worth 70million naira was procured by the Ministry of Health to Government hospitals in the year 2007.
  • Essential drugs and consumables worth N52million were procured during the period.  Contracts for the supply of Essential Drugs and consumables worth 298 million naira were also awarded to contractors in December, 2008.
  • Commissioning of Health facilities, namely Cold Chain Laboratory, Eleyele, Primary Health Center, Odo-Oba, Ogo Oluwa Local Government, Butubutu, Ona-Ara Local Government and Primary Health Center, Ogbooro, Saki East Local Government.
  • Construction of General Hospital, Iwere-Ile, Iwajowa Local Government is almost completed and will be ready for commissioning soon.
  • Three buses were procured by Health System Development Project II [HSDP-II] for Health Institutions, namely schools of Midwifery, Nursing and Hygiene.
  • Two other vehicles were procured by HSDP-II for Projects Monitoring.
  • Civil works constructed by HSDP-II have reached 99% completion at PHC's Awe, Iware, Tapa, Iberekodo together with General Hospitals at Ayete, Ago Amodu, Iganna and Cholera Control Unit.  These facilities are expected to be commissioned soon.
  • Renovation work has been completed at General Hospital, Aremo.  The Hospital has been re-equipped and ready to be commissioned.
  • Procurement of one vehicle for Monitoring of Immunization Activities by HSDP-II.
  • Procurement of Computers and Internet Connectivity to all Health Training Institutions, Ministry of Health and some selected Health facilities General Hospital, Jericho, RRSH and Adeoyo Maternity Teaching Hospital.
  • Rehabilitation, reconstruction and re-equipping of Adeoyo Maternity Teaching Hospital was accomplished by November, 2008.
  • Production of Health Facility Directory.
  • Production of Oyo State Comprehensive Statistical Bulletin.
  • Training of 600 Health Personnel [Public and Private}e.g. Nurses, CHO, records Officers, CHEW, TBAs and VHWs spread across tertiary, secondary and primary health facilities in the State.
  • Procurement and distribution of 16 computers and peripherals to some LGA M & E Officers that excelled for ease of data collection and analysis.
  • Development of Web Portal “sss.oyohealth.org” for the State Health Sector that will showcase the potential and improvements recorded by the State.
  • In the last two years, data returns from the LGA's had improved from the abysmal 20% to 85%, while returns from private facilities are picking up.
  • Over 30 research proposals were received, collated and appraised for ethical approval. 
  • Over 110 requests were made by Students, Government and Non-government Organizations on basic Health Data and the requests were granted accordingly.
  • A total of 3,351,294 children were given vitamin A supplementation between February and December, 2008.
  • Health workers were trained on Key Nutrition intervention, sensitization meetings with the members of public on complimentary feeding practices and celebration of 2008 World Breast Feeding Week.
  • Free treatment of malaria was rendered to children under the age of 5 years in all the 33 LGAs in the State.
  • 206,400 doses of Coartem were distributed to 33 Health facilities in all the LGAs.
  • Long Lasting Insecticides Nets [LLINs] to the tune of 24,000 were given to Akinyele LG while 12,833 were distributed in Ogbomoso South L.G.
  • Training of Unit Staff on integration of directly observed treatment programme for incorporation in HIV/AIDS programme of the State.
  • Registration of 126 new school Food Vendors during the year with 26 renewal of registration.
  • 3,869 female condom, 53,712 male condom, 5,945 Depo-Provera doses and other contraceptive devices were distributed to the service delivery point during the year.
  • 130 students of tertiary institutions under the student Industrial Work Experience Scheme [SIWES] were  trained.
  • 232 Community Birth Attendants were trained in Ibadan while 182 were trained in Ogbomoso  zone.
  • 51 State Local Government Control team in [23] Oncho-endemic LGAs on various Oncho Control activities were trained.

Oyo State Hospitals' Management Board

  • Boreholes were sunk at Jericho Nursing Home and General Hospital, Fiditi at a cost of N776,000.00.
  • Seven Lawn mowers valued at N2,000,000.00 were purchased for the use of Government Hospitals.
  • The operating theatre at General Hospital Moniya was re-roofed.
  • Procurement of furniture and equipment costing N1,000,000.00 for Central Medical Diagnostic Centre, Total Garden, Ibadan.
  • Compartmentalization of Secretariat Medical Clinic.
  • 38 Air Conditioners were purchased for the hospitals and headquarters at a total cost of N2,500,000.00.
  • Mobile X-Ray Machines were purchased for the use of Government Hospitals at a cost of N10,500,000.00.
  • Physiotherapy equipment worth N4,950,000.00 were purchased and distributed to Government hospitals to better the health condition of citizens of Oyo State.
  • Purchase of Dental materials and equipment totaling N5,000,000.00 for various Dental Centres.
  • Orthopedic materials were purchased for better services at our orthopedics rehabilitation centres.
  • Purchase of Medical Laboratory equipment costing N9,800,000.00.
  • Procurement of formalin for our mortuaries and erection of formalin canopy with six concrete formalin tanks.
  • Introduction of Public Partnership [PPP] to provide cheap and genuine drugs which is readily available for all hospital pharmacies.
  • Recruitment of various categories of Medical and paramedical staff was carried out.
