AKINYELE LOCAL GOVERNMENT

Akinyele Local Government Area was created in 1976 with the Administrative Headquarters located at Moniya. The Local Government shares boundaries with Afijio Local Government to the north, Lagelu Local Government Area to the east, Ido Local Government Area to the west and Ibadan North Local Government Area to the south. It occupies a land area of 464.892 square kilometers with a population density of 516 persons per square kilometer. Using 3.2% growth rate from 2006 census figures, the 2010 estimated population for the Local Government is 239,745. Dominated by the Yorubas among other resident tribes, the people are of Christianity, Islamic and Traditional religion background.

The L.G.A.  is endowed with fertile agricultural land suitable for the cultivation of fruits like orange, mango, banana, pineapple, etc. The area is also notable for palm oil production.

Poverty Alleviation Programme:

  1. Donation of 10 Wheel Chairs to people with physical disabilities
  2. Distribution of 40 cutlasses per Ward of 12 Wards to farmers
  3. Loans given to 120 farmers at 10 farmers in each of the 12 Wards
  4. 50 women were given loans to empower them in Small Scale businesses

 

Agriculture:

  1. Two million (N2,000,000.00) was released as counterpart funding for FADAMA II project
  2. N150,000.00 (One hundred and fifty thousand naira) as counterpart Funding of Resource Centre on Urban Agriculture & Food Security (RUAF)

 

Traditional Council:

Presentation of 2 Toyota Camry cars to our Baales:

Medicals:

Regular supply of drugs to Local Government Dispensaries and Maternity Centers by the approval of N200,000.00 subvention monthly.
