ATIBA LOCAL GOVERNMENT

Atiba Local Government Area was created in 1996 with the Administrative Headquarters located at Offa-Meta. It covers a landmass of 1,620.83 square kilometer. The 2010 estimated population using a growth rate of 3.2% from 2006 population census, is put at 192,493 with a population density of 119 persons per sq. k.m. It shares boundaries with Saki East and Oorelope Local Government Areas to the north, Itesiwaju and Atisbo Local Government Areas to the west, Oriire Local Government area to the east. While Oyo East Local Government Areas bound it to the south.

Predominantly Yoruba, the people are of different religion backgrounds. i.e Christianity, Islamic and Traditional. The Local Government Area is endowed with land suitable for agricultural activities. Other crops cultivated in the area re cocoa, maize, cashew etc cattle, sheep and goat rearing are also part of agriculrutal activities being practiced b ythe people. The notable tourist attractions include the ancient palace of Alaafin of Oyo, Soro and Moga hills at Isale Oyo Area, Adikuta rocks at Agunpopo and Sango Shrine at Koso.

2.      Regular monthly environmental sanitation exercise.

3.      Clearing of heap refuse dump at Ode Aremo which had been there for years.

4.      Fumigation of the Local Government Health Centers and Local Government Secretariat.

5.      Chlorination of wells in the Local Government Areas.

6.      Monthly procurement and distribution of necessary drugs to the Health Centers.

7.      Construction of Health Centre at Ijawaya Village.

8.      Construction of Health Centre at Arinkinkin Village, Oyo.

9.      Financing the immunization exercise annually.

 

Community Development/Educational Involvement:

1.      Construction of a block of 3 classrooms with Headmaster Officer and Store at St. Mary’s Primary School, Iyalamu Sabo, Oyo.

2.      Construction of a block of 3 classrooms with Headmaster Office and Store at Oke-Olola, Oyo.

3.      Printing and distribution of Exercise Books to the Primary School Pupils in the Atiba Local Government.

 

Poverty Alleviation:

1.      Purchase and distribution of 32 Motorcycles to some youth across the Local Government.

2.      Purchase and distribution of 12 Deeper Freezers to women across the Local Government

3.      Purchase and distribution of Hair Dryer for successful Hair Stylists.

4.      Purchase and distribution of 10 Hair Clippers to the successful Barbers.

5.      Distribution of cash gifts of N10,000.00 each to 10 widows.

6.      Purchase and distribution of Coal Cookers to women.

7.      Purchase and distribution of Wheel Chairs to Disable Persons.
