ATISBO LOCAL GOVERNMENT

Atisbo Local Government Area came into existence in December, 1996 with the Administrative Headquarters located at Tede. Saki West and East Local Government Area bound it to the North, Iwajowa and Kajola Local Government Areas to the south and Atiba Local Government Area to the east.

The Local Government Area has a land mass of 2,837.417 square kilometers. The 2010 estimated population figure, using a growth rate of 3.2% from 2006 census is put at 125,672 with a population density of 44 persons per square kilometer. Dominated by the Yorubas and other tribes like the Hausas and the Fulanis. The residents are predominately farmers.

A settlement of cattle rearers is also located there. The Local Government Area is endowed with a wide expanse of land suitable for agricultural activities. The fertile soil supports the cultivation of food crops, like maize, millet, cassava, beans, citrus and cashew nuts.

ACHIEVEMENTS

 

Construction of six [6] blocks of three classrooms with headmaster’s office at:          

[i]       Nomadic Primary School, Tede.

[ii]      Community Primary School, Kajola, Ago-Are.

[iii]     Nomadic Primary, Oremeta, Irawo.

[iv]     A.U.D. Primary School, Irawo Owode.

[v]      A.U.D. Primary School, Tede, and

[vi]     Baptist Primary School, Baasi.

          Renovation of a block each at Baptist Primary School Irawo-Owode and A.U.D.  Primary School I, Tede.

          Establishment of additional eight (8) Primary Schools in the ‘rural area.

-        Donation of four [4] 18-seater buses to:

[i]       Community Grammar School, Irawo-Owode.

[ii]      Ansar Ur-deen Comprehensive High School, Tede .

[iii]     Owo Community Grammar School, Owo and

[iv]     Christ Comprehensive          High School, Ago-Are.

-        Refurbishing of five [5] buses of older Secondary Schools which include:

[i]       Progressive Secondary Grammar School, Tede.

[ii]      Baptist Secondary Grammar School, Ago-Are.

[iii]     Comprehensive High School, Irawo

[iv]     Ofiki Grammar School, Ofiki and

[v]      ADS High School, Ago-Are.

-        Printing and free distribution of 310,000.00 exercise books and 100,000.00 units of biros to all public Primary and Secondary School Pupils across the Local Government.

-        Payment of over N2million as bursary award to students in higher   institutions across the Country who are indigenes of Atisbo Local Government.

-        Establishment of Children Parliament.

-        Sponsoring of Miss Beatrice Bolatito Oladoja to 2008 International Children Seminar Camp in Dubai, U.A.E.

-        Part sponsorship of the overseas trip of the president of the Federation of Oyo State Student Union [FOSSU].

-        Financial assistance of N420,000.00 to two Law-Students of Atisbo Local Government origin.

-        Sponsoring of 60 pupils for Gifted Children Entrance Examination.

-        Registration of all the Junior Secondary Schools in the Local Government Area for JSS 3 NECO exams for 2007/2008 and 2008/2009 sessions. First of its kind in the State.

-        Donation of N1.2million for the victims of rainstorm disaster in 2008.

-        Asphalt Tarring of General Hospital road, Ago-Are.

-        Asphalt Tarring of Hon. Adejumobi Road Irawo-lle.
