EGBEDA LOCAL GOVERNMENT

Egbeda Local Government Area was created in 1989 with the Administrative Headquaters situated at Egbeda. It covers a landmass of 185.508 square kilometer with a population density of 1,722 persons per square kilometer. The 2010 estimated population figure of the Local Government is put at 319,388 people based on a growth rate of 3.2% using 2006 census figure.

The Local Government Area share boundaries with Osun State to the eas, Local Government area to the north, Ibadan North East Local Government Area to the west and Ona Ara Local Government to the south. It is dominated by Yorubas. Endowed with a wide expanse of land for the production of livestock and arable farminag. About half of the Local Government area is rural in nature and suburb to Ibadan Metropolis. Subsistence farming is common among the people. The fertile soil and climate favoured the growing of maize, cassava, yams, cocoa, oil palm vegetables and citrus fruits. Among the notable industries located in the area are the Nigerian Breweries Plc, and the Atlantic Carpets, Ajoda New Town is also located in the Local Government Area.

Road Construction:

1.      Asphaltic tarring of Olodo-Arubiewe Road (1.5Km)

2.      Asphaltic tarring of Sawmill-Idi-Osan Road (1.6Km)

3.      Asphaltic tarring of Olosan Road (1Km)

4.      Asphaltic tarring of Welcome to Egbeda market Road

5.      Asphaltic tarring of Akingbade-Alajameta Road (1Km)

6.      Asphaltic tarring of Ogungbade Road (1Km) – on-going.

7.      Asphaltic tarring of Molade-Oyo Motor Road (2.3Km) – on-going.

8.      Double Box Rain forced concrete box culvert at Akingbade

9.      Reinforcing wall to the box culvert and back filling of the box culvert at Onideure

10.    Double box culvert at Olode Ajamaro

11.    Dredging of Ogbere River from Akingbade-Ogbere-Oremeji Road

12.    Dredging of Ogbere River from Sawmill-Ogbere for easy passage of water to prevent flood disaster

13.    Grading of earth roads within the Local Government Area

14.    Construction of Ring Culverts in various Wards within the Local Government Area

 

Education and Social Services in the following Schools

 

Construction of Classrooms:

1.      A block of 3 classrooms plus a Store, one Office at Olosan Community Primary School

2.      St. Brendans Primary School, Kumapayi

3.      Alarere Community Primary School – on-going

4.      Adewolu Community Primary School

5.      Efun Community Primary School

6.      Adeleye Community Primary School – on-going

7.      Arolu Community Primary School

8.      Ogungbade Community Primary School

9.      Block of 3 classrooms plus one Store, Office at Adekola Community Primary School

10.    Chairs, Tables, Benches and Desks were distributed to all public Primary Schools within the Local Government Area

11.    Bursary Award to the indigenes of the Local Government who are in the Tertiary Institutions

12.    Purchase and installation of 50KVA Generator at the Local Government Secretariat.

 

Health Care Delivery Service:

1.      Purchase of drugs and dressing materials to all the health and maternity centres in the Local Government, which are being given to the patients at free of charge.

2.      Provision of monthly free eye test.

3.      People were trained for the prevention and treatment of Onchocearsis

4.      The Local Government participates in the National Immunization programme.
