IBARAPA NORTH LOCAL GOVERNMENT
Ibarapa North Local Government Area was carved out of defunct Ifeloju Local Government in 1996 with administrative headquarters located ar Ayete, It shares boundaries with Iwajowa Local Government area to the north, Ogun State to the west, Ibarapa east and Iseyin Local Government areas to the east and Ibarapa Central Local Government Area to the south.
The Local Government Area occupies a landmass of 1,137.762 square kilometers with plain and undulating land terrain. It has estimated population of 114,668 for 2010 using a growth rath of 3.2% from 2006 census with a population density of 101 persons pwe square kilometer. It also comprises three major towns, Ayete, Tapa and Igangan. Majority of the residents are typical Yorubas. Other tribes like Hausa, Fulani and Igbos could also be located in various places in the Local Government Area.
The people are notable food and crop farmers. Culivation of mellon, yam, millet,guinea – corn, vegetables, maize, tomato and other food crops are common among them. Cash crop like cocoa and oilpalm are also produce in large scale. Hunting activities and other artistry works such as woodcarving, traditional aso-oke weaving and traditional blacksmith are common with the people. About 80% of the residents engage in farming activities while the rest are into trading. The Local Government area is endowed with numerous tourists attraction centres among them are Isamuni Hill, Ayete;Isawo Mangrove, Ayete; Iforin Hill, Tapa; Aako Hill, Igangan; Gbohungbohun Hill Ayete and others. It is also blessed with big river like Ofiki, Alamuyo at Ayete, Eleni at Tapa, Osun at Igangan and Ile nla river at Idiyan.
