IDO LOCAL GOVERNMENT

Ido Local Government Area was created in 1989 with the Administrative Headquarters located at Ido. It shares boundaries with Iseyin and Afijio Local Government Area to the North, Akinyele Local Government Area to the East, Ibarapa East Local Government Area to the West. It also shares boundaries with Ogun State to the south.

The Local Government Area has a landmass of 1,010.954 square kilometers with the 2010 estimated population of 117,129 using a growth rate of 3.2% from 2006 census. A population density of 116 persons per square kilometer.

The residents of the Local Government Area are mostly farmers, traders, transporters and civil servants. They are Yorubas and other tribes from various parts of the country. Soil fertility in the area enhances the production of maize, cocoa, oil palm, kolanuts, cassava and vegetables. It has processing industry at Ilaju.

-        Widening and Asphalt tarring of Idi-Ogano­ Akinware-Morakinyo road

-        Construction of box culvert and reinforced concrete line drainage at Jankata streaApata

-        Re-construction of dilapidated fence and renovation of Maternity centre and zonal Health office at Omi-Adio

-        Construction of a block of classroom and Headmaster’s office at I.D.C. Primary school, Idiya

-        Construction of a block of 3 classrooms and Headmaster’s office at Hope           Central Model School, Omi-Adio.

-        Connection of Local Government to the Internet and installation of VSAT          at the Local Government Secretariat

-        Procurement and resale of fertilizers to the Local Government farmers at subsidized rate

-        Sinking of borehole at Ijokodo townplanning office, Apete Health Center Installation of Alakufo of Akufo

-        Inauguration of Ido Local Government Chapter of Oyo State Women Coalition against HIV/AIDs (OYSWOCA) and establishment of functioning LACA office.

-        Support for the flagging off of Integrated Campaign Against Measles in the Local Government.
