OGBOMOSO NORTH LOCAL GOVERNMENT
The present Ogbomoso North Local Government Area was carved out of the Old Ogbomoso Local Government on the 27th September, 1991 with its administrative headquarters at Kinnira.
The Local Government, being an urban is strategically located and served as link to northern parts of the country with total land mass of 207.978 square kilometers. It has a population density of 1,084 persons per square kilometers. Using a growth rate of 3.2% from 2006 census, the 2010 estimated population of the Local Government area is put at 225,408. The Local Government Area is bounded by Ogbomoso South Local Government Area to the South, Oriire and Surulere Local Government Area to the West and east respectively.
Ogbomoso North Local Government comprises of multi-ethnic tribes in their great numbers with the Yorubas constituting larger percentage. The soil allows for the cultivation of cassava, cocoa yam, oil palm, tomatoes, maize, yam, mellon, okro, cashew, guinea corn, mango etc.
Majority of the population of the Local Government Area are fervent in subsistence farming and distribute trading, hence, their mass exodus from home to their different business destinations all over the world.
Availability of various favourable investment indices such as financial institutions, hotels of international standard, teaching general and private hospitals, Ladoke Akintola University make the Local Government area an urban settlement. The presence of Nigerian Television (NTA) and appreciable larger population coupled with good road network are suitably on ground to complement required factors for location of industry.
The Local Government are is blessed with sizeable number of tourist attractions like Soun’s palace, Ogun Oja’lu, Shrine, Chain at Ikolaba Ajibosin’s compound at Ode Jagun, Soun Ogunlola’s site and Ladoke Akintola’s (former Premier of Western Region) building with his Limousine car.
