OGBOMOSO SOUTH LOCAL GOVERNMENT
Ogbomoso South was carved out of Ogbomoso North in 1991 with the Administrative headquarters located at Arowomole. The Local Government Area is strategically located and it is bounded by Ogbomoso North, Oriire and Ogo Oluwa Local Government Areas.
It covers a landmass of 145.741 square kilometers with a population density of 738 persons per square kilometer. Using a growth rate of 3.2% from 2006 census, the 2010 estimated population of the Local Government is put at 114,355.
The residents are Yorubas and other tribes from different parts of the country who practice farming of various types. The soil allows for the cultivation of fruits like mangoes etc and other arable crops. The people are notable traders and transporters.
The Nigerian Baptist Theological Seminary, reputed to be the first of its kind in Black Africa, is located in the Local Government Area.
