ORIIRE LOCAL GOVERNMENT

Oriire Local Government was created in 1989 with the administrative headquarters at Ikoyi Ile. Olorunsogo Local Government Area bound the Local Government area to the north and Atiba Local Government Area to the West. It also shares boundaries with Surulere, Ogo Oluwa, Ogbomoso North and South Local Government Areas. It has a common boundaries with Kwara State to the East. Covering a landmass of 1,908,504 square kilometers with a population density of 90 persons per square kilometer. Using a growth rate of 3.2% from 2006 population census, the 2010 estimated population figure for the Local Government was projected to be 170,858. The Local Government area is dominated by the Yorubas and other resident tribes with different religious background of Christianity, Islamic and Traditional religion.

It is endowed with wide expanse of land suitable for agricultural activities. Majority of the people are predominantly farmers who specialize in crop farming and rearing animals.
