OYO EAST LOCAL GOVERNMENT
Oyo East Local Government area was created in 1996 when the former Oyo Local Government was split into three. It has administrative headquarters located at Kosobo. The Local Government Area shares boundaries with Oyo West, Atiba, Afijio and Ogo Oluwa Local Government Areas. It occupies a land area of 176.805 square kilometers with a population census, the 2010 estimated population for the Local Government was projected to be 140,478. Dominated by the Yorubas and other resident tribes, the people are of different religious background of Christianity, Islamic and Traditional religion.
The Local Government Area is endowed with suitable land for farming activities. The people are into farming, trading and transport business. While it is noted for its historic works of arts and craft, it also has Federal School of Survey located within jurisdiction. Piggery, castle, sheep and goats rearing are part of the agricultural activities.
