Oyo State Government Sites Lautech faculties at Igboho and Iseyin

The Oyo State Government is to site the Faculty of Management Sciences of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso at Igboho, Oorelope Local Government Area of Oyo State.

The State Commissioner for Education, Prof. Taoheed Adedoja revealed this today while briefing the press at the end of the State Executive Council meeting.

The Commissioner said that the State Government took the decision as part of efforts to spread the development of education to every part of the State in order to provide opportunity for all the geo-political zones to benefit from the education programmes of the State Government.

Prof. Adedoja also disclosed that the Faculty of Education of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) will also be moved to Iseyin to offer degree programmes in vocational and technical education, sciences and other related education courses.

Also briefing the press, the State Commisioner for Agriculture, Natural Resources and Rural Development, Barrister Ishola told journalists that a body of research institute that deals with research into agricultural proceeds had given an award of excellent performance to Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala in recognition and appreciation of his selfless contribution to Agriculture in Oyo State in particular, South West in general.

Barrister Ishola also revealed that the administration of Otunba Alao-Akala in collaboration with other South West Governors and the poultry Association of Nigeria will soon embark on a project aimed at preventing egg scarcity throughout the State.

Governor Alao-Akala Inspects Ongoing road projects

The Oyo State Governor, Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala has assured the people of the State that all on-going road projects in the State will be completed on schedule.

He gave the assurance today in Ibadan shortly after inspecting the 4.6km Queens Cinema-Dugbe-Oke-Ado-Molete and the 6.5km New Garage-Odo-Ona-Elewe-Apata Ganga Road dualization projects.

Governor Akala while briefing the press expressed satisfaction with the level of work done so far on the road projects, adding that the projects had reached appreciable level and that the contractor will conform with the May deadline of completion.

The Governor who was given a rousing welcome by marketers and residents during the inspection stressed the need for the contractors to speed up work on the project so that it will be completed before the advent of the rain, adding that the State Government has paid the contractor fully for the completion of the projects.

At Odo-Ona Elewe, Governor Akala directed the contractor handling the road project to ensure the demolition of illegal structures obstructing the dualization project before next week.

While addressing the people at Dugbe and Oke-Ado, Governor Akala urged traders and residents along the road to desist from dumping refuse into the newly constructed drainages beside the roads.

Otunba Akala, who also advised the people against street trading, urged them not to display their wares along the road setbacks.  He also charged motor dealers along the new roads to desist from parking their vehicles along the road to allow free flow of traffic, adding that offenders will face the wrath of law.

In his remarks, the site Engineer, Mr. Pascal Harfouch who took the Governor round the road project assured the Governor that the projects would be completed in the next two moths, as the State Government has fully mobilized the contracting firm.

In their various comments, some of the road users, motorists, residents and commercial motorcycle riders commended the Administration of Otunba Alao-Akala for its achievements in making life more meaningful for the people through the construction and rehabilitation of roads in the State.

The Governor was accompanied on the inspection tour by the Deputy Chief of Staff, Alhaji Razak Gbadegesin Kareem, members of the State Executive Council and top government functionaries.
