| Governor Alao-Akala signs 2010 Appropriation Bill into Law |

The Oyo State Governor, Otunba Christopher Adebayo Alao-Akala today signed into law 2010 Appropriation Bill totaling over N142 billion. While assenting the 2010 budget christened “Budget of Consolidation”, Governor Akala said the budget is designed to adding value to governance and the continuation of march towards glory and socio-economic revolution in the State. Governor Akala while acknowledging the contribution of members of the State House of Assembly towards the speedy and efficient manner which the appropriation bill was passed, described this as a confirmation that the three arms of government in the State are cordial and in perfect alignment. The Governor also commended members of the State House of Assembly for their cooperation and support to the executive arm of government in its determined effort to transform the State and change the fortune of the people for the better. Otunba Akala said that his administration has demonstrated to all and sundry including cynics that the present government possesses the foresight, the ability and the political will to implement and deliver on his promises to the people of the State. The Governor pointed out that his administration had continued to improve the living standard of the people through the provision of dividends of democracy to all the nooks and crannies of the State, stressing that the various achievements recorded by the present administration was just a tip of the iceberg. The State Chief Executive charged various Ministries, Agencies and Government parastatals in the State to re-double their effort towards facing the challenges of the year 2010 budget implementation. Earlier in his remark, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Honourable Morof Olawale Atilola pledged the readiness of the members of the House to monitor the budget with a view to ensuring effective implementation. He explained that the State House of Assembly had to increase the budget allocation in order to ensure improvement in the education sector, road maintenance, environmental sanitation and sports, stressing that the allocation for the 3SC football club was jerked up to enable the club sustain its premier league position. The Speaker called for the upward review of poll tax to increase the revenue profile of the State Government. He commended the State Government for its development effort especially road construction and rehabilitation, health care delivery and provision of adequate security to lives and property.
