Oyo State Governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi has tasked the new Ologburo of Ogburo, Oba Victor Olajide Oyedepo to run an inclusive government and ensure peaceful coexistence among the residents of his domain.
Governor Ajimobi gave the task during the coronation and presentation of instrument of office to the monarch at Lagelu Local Government Secretariat, Ibadan.
The Governor who spoke through the Director of Chieftaincy Matters in the State, Mr. Zarcheous Jayeola admonished the traditional ruler to confide in his chiefs and give priority to the uplift of Ogburo town.
Governor Ajimobi hinted that Ogburo town has cultural, traditional and political affinity to Oyo State rather than Osun State as Olubadan of Ibadan land takes absolute control of the town in ancient time and not Oluwo of Iwo.
He commended the indigenes of Ogburo town for their courage over the boundary dispute between the town and Osun State, noting that his administration will continue to assert its authority that Ogburo town belongs to Oyo State.
“The elevation of Ologburo of Ogburo from Baale to Coronate Oba is a testimony that our administration is committed to put an end to boundary disputes between aforementioned states. I want to assure the indigenes of Ogburo town that various recommendations before the government towards finding lasting solution to the boundary dispute will be vigorously pursued”
In his Welcome Address, the Executive Chairman, Lagelu North Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Arowomole Taofeek described the elevation and coronation as historic. Hon. Taofeek, however called on the indigenes of Ogburo town both home and abroad to continually support the traditional ruler for the town to witness rapid development.
In their Separate Remark, Otun Olubadan of Ibadan Land, Oba Moshood Lekan Balogun and Ekaarun Olubadan, Oba Amidu Ajibade affirmed that the review of Oyo State Chieftaincy laws has no negative impact on chieftaincy institution but to accord the institution necessary respect it deserves .
The duo emphasize the need for the chairmen and concerned stakeholders in Lagelu area not to rest on their oars but take pragmatic steps at ensuring peace and orderliness in the town at all times.
In his acceptance Speech, His Royal Highness, the Ologburo of Ogburo Land, Oba Victor Oyedepo thanked Governor Abiola Ajimobi led administration for making the installation a reality.
Oba Oyedepo, while pledging to be equal to task of finding lasting solution to challenges confronting the town, appealed to the National Boundary Commission to carry out judgment on unnecessary boundary dispute between Oyo State and Osun State over the ownership of Ogburo town without further delay.
