On Thursday 10th January, 2019, His Excellency the Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Otunba Moses Alake Adeyemo on behalf of His Excellency, the Executive Governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi hosted the Director-General, National Emergency Agency on courtesy visit.
The intent of the visit was to keep the State Government abreast of re-organisation exercise embarked upon by the Agency to ensure effective disaster management in the country. The Director-General used the opportunity to inform the State of Management decision to relocate the hitherto South West Zonal office of the Agency from Lagos State to Ibadan, Oyo State. According to him the newly established South West Zonal office would be responsible for coordination of disaster Preparedness, Mitigation, Response and Recovery in Oyo, Ogun, Osun, Ondo and Ekiti States while the former Lagos Office will stand-Alone as Operational office catering for Lagos State alone. He therefore solicited for provision of essential material such as office accommodation, warehouse and office furniture and equipment for effective take-off of the Zonal office. He also commended the present administration’s effort at making Oyo State resilient to disaster.
Responding, his Excellency, the Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Otunba Moses Alake Adeyemo welcomes the management Team of NEMA to the pacesetter State. He appreciated the siting of the South West Zonal Office of the Agency in Ibadan, capital of Oyo State and assured the Agency of the readiness of the State to look into its request and provide all necessary support for smooth take-off of the Zonal office. He solicited further for harmonious relationship between the State and NEMA. He thereafter presented list of outstanding request of the State which has not been responded to her consideration of the Director-General, NEMA.
