It was an ecstatic moment for the residents of Amuloko-Akanran and over 25 communities in Ona-Ara Local Government on Friday, January 18 as the much awaited restoration of the electricity of the area was officially commissioned.
It was a dream come true for the people of the communities who had been without electricity supply for over fifteen years.
But in a twist of fortune, which saw the people of the areas having to endure for one and half decades, their prayers were answered in September, 2018 when Chief Dotun Sanusi, a business mogul and a silent philanthropist decided to take up the case which eventually led to the official flag-off of the resuscitation of the communities’ electrification project.
Akanran Health Center, the venue of the official commissioning of the electrification, had been agog with different associations and traditional rulers of the communities before the arrival of the executive chairman of the council, Hon. Buliaminu Ogundele whose joy knew no bound as he sang and danced with his people when he eventually entered the arena.
In his address, Hon Ogundele went down the memory lane as he narrated the efforts the communities under the chairmanship of Mr. Abiola had made to get the illustrious sons and daughters of the council come to their rescue which according to him was fruitless before he led them to Chief Sanusi who eventually foot the bill.
The Chairman on behalf of the people of the communities thereafter thanked Chief Dotun Sanusi over his philanthropic efforts in the area which in his words is exemplary saying that the business mogul has been a source of blessing to his Local Government since the first day he went to discuss with him in his farm on how his administration can synergise with him with a view to bringing proper development to the council which according to him has remained stagnated over the years.
Hon. Ogundele then declared to the people at the event that the State Government has concluded all arrangements to reconstruct Olorunsogo-Amuloko-Akanran road which has been a nightmare to the motorists in the area.
In his own address, the sponsor of the project, Chief Dotun Sanusi, stated that what has been happening in the area is mere God in action’ adding that with God on his side more developmental projects will still be carried out.
He concluded his speech by lauding the people of the area over their determination to put a stop to the backwardness of the council adding that their unity is one of the factors that endeared them to him.
The electrification project was thereafter commissioned by Hon. Bosun Oladele, a lawmaker from Irepo/Orelope/Olorunsogo federal constituency, who represented the State Governor, Sen. Abiola Ajimobi amidst loud cheers from the people.
