The Oyo State Agency for Youth Development is a service organ of the government to mobilize, guide, encourage and empower the youth of the state with a view to preparing them for smooth integration physically, socially, psychologically and productively into the mainstream of the society.

The Agency for Youth Development formerly known as Oyo State Youth Development Council has its name changed through a Law enacted in 2002 i.e Oyo State Agency for Youth Development Law 2002.

Our Vision

To develop programme and project that would protect the right of the youth between ages 18 and 35, make them responsible citizen, empower them through skill acquisition, promote their full participation in the overall development process and improve their quality of life.

  • 33,000 Youth across the 33 Local Government Areas were sensitized and mobilized for effective participation in the transformation agenda of the present Administration in 2013.
  • 10 Talents were discovered during the Age Group Table Tennis Competition at the Zonal Levels in 2013.
  • 3,000 Youth apprentices were trained on best business practices, modern marketing and networking for a good business start-up in 2014.
  • 2000 youth trained and empowered with start-up fund and equipment e.g. Agric Enterprise and Vocational Skill Acquisitions between 2011 and 2015.
  • 10,000 youth mobilized and trained as Peer Educator and positive behaviour change agent between 2011 and 2016.
  • 15,000 youth trained on skills that would promote positive behaviour and good character formation between 2011 and 2016.
  • 10,000 copies of Youth Focus Magazine published and distributed free to disseminate information on government policies/programmes and received feedback from young people between 2011 and 2015.
  • 6 out of 100 street boys sensitized on behaviour modification were successfully rehabilitated and empowered for self employment in the areas of barbing and tailoring in 2015.
  • State Government’s support in form of Grant-in-aid to 46 Registered Voluntary Youth Organisations with total sum of Twenty-one thousand Million Naira between 2011 and 2013.
  • 300 Youth were trained in disaster management in 2013 and 2014.
  • 5,000 Youth were mobilized for effective participation in the 2015 General Election.
  • The 3 Youth Parliamentarians representing the State participated inthe 3rdAssembly of the National Youth Parliament 1st and 2ndplenary Sessions in Abuja in May, 2016 and 2017 respectively.
  • 1,000 Youth were trained on Business Leadership Entrepreneurship Skill between May and June, 2017.

  • According to the law earlier mentioned, the Agency should have Chairman being a political head supported by one Full Time and six Part Time Board Members while the Executive Secretary is the Administrative Head and the Accounting Officer.In addition, there are Six (6) directorates and each is headed by a Director, Also, a Public Workfare Project Implementation Unit (PWFPIU of World Bank YESSO) domiciled in the Agency.
