OYSG Institutionalizes Monitoring and Evaluation into Public Service.


The present administration in the state is committed to entrench Result Based Monitoring and Evaluation {M&E} Systems to deliver good governance through institutionalization of Performance Management M&E within the civil service structure.

The Oyo State Governor made this known through his Special Adviser on Economic Planning and Budget, Dr. Isiaka Olayinka Kolawole at the opening ceremony of A 4day capacity building held at Plaza de Aruna Elekara, Oyo Town. The workshop was organized by the State Government through the State Planning Commission with the support of the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF).

The Permanent Secretary, Oyo State Planning Commission, Mrs. Mofoluke Adebiyi traced the State Government commitment to institutionalise the M&E Policy within the state to the recently conducted Enlarged Stakeholders’ Meeting held on 31st October, 2017 to Validate  M&E draft policy as a single document which shall soon be presented forThe Governor’s assent.

Mrs. Adebiyi also stated that the State Government has established a central M&E Department in the State Planning Commission, with the overall objective of adherence to guideline for efficiency, effectiveness, inclusiveness, sustainability and impact assessment.

The Permanent Secretary stressed further that the aim of the training workshop is to design sector specific M&E tools for the State.  According to her, the framework will incorporate performance reports that will demonstrate Government’s judicious usage of tax payer’s resources, showing clearly that Government plans are in consonance with the needs of the people.

The session was attended by over 72 participants drawn from Directors of Planning Research and Statistics as well as other officers that are saddled with the task of Planning and Budgeting for the State Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) and was facilitated by UNICEF Planning Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist Dr. Olaleye Adeniyi with other principal officers from the State Planning Commission.

In his own contribution, the Facilitator, the Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation specialist from UNICEF, Dr. Olaleye Adeniyi, appreciated the Oyo state Government for organizing the training. He advised the participants to apply the skills and information acquired from the training to improve their activities in their various MDAs.
