OYSG Organizes Workshop on Development of Social Protection Policy

Oyo State Government says the development of the Social Protection Policy into the State is based on the strategies and methodologies of the implementation.

The State Government made this known through the Special Adviser to the State Governor on Economic, Planning and Budget, Dr. Isiaka Kolawole who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Oyo State Planning Commission, Mrs. Mofoluke Adebiyi during the opening section of a workshop on development of social protection policy organized by Oyo State Planning Commission in collaboration with the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund [UNICEF] for the member of the Technical Working Group (TWG) on social protection programmes held at Ibadan Business School, Old Bodija Ibadan.

The permanent Secretary stated that the aim of the workshop is to provide a forum for better understanding of the Social protection Programme and serve as platform for the implementation of the Social Protection Policy into the State.

She stated further that the Social Protection Programmes are broader in scope which include addressing multi -dimensional and cross cutting issues as well as temporary and structured deprivations shocks and vulnerabilities; Social Protection measures is also designed to respond to different gender-specific categories of risk, which include health risk ,life cycle risk, household economic risk and social risk; among other. She added that the complexity and all-inclusiveness of this policy calls for laying a solid foundation for impactful implementation.

In his own contribution, the representative of UNICEF, Dr Kennneth Ozoemenam, appreciated the Oyo State Government for organizing the training workshop on the development of the Social Protection Policy into the State. He then urged the participants to apply the skill and information derived from the training for proper implementation of the policy.
