OYSG To Partner With Nestle In Supply Of Cassava and Maize


Oyo State Government has reiterated its commitment  to promote agricultural practices in the State and improve well beings of the farmers by providing solid  market driven platform where farmers could sell their produce at profitable rates.
The State Commissioner for Agriculture, Natural Resources and Rural Development, Prince Oyewole Oyewumi disclosed  this after holding   meeting with top officials of Nestle Nigeria Plc  in Lagos State .
According to him,  the purpose of the meeting which lasted for hours was to see how Oyo State can partner with the company through supply of raw materials especially cassava and maize to boost economy of the State and make farmers stick to Agro – business’
Prince Oyewole, who emphasised on the need for both parties to build confidence in each other to enhance prosperous transaction assured the company of continuous supply of quality crops from potential farmers in the State.
He stressed further that Oyo State Government under the leadership of Senator Abiola Ajimobi is committed in partnering with large scale investors who can accommodate available raw materials from local farmers and processors without any hindrance, urging the company to facilitate agricultural stakeholder meeting with a view to providing solutions to challenges confronting both farmers and end users.
“We are looking inward to partner with more reliable investors like Nestle Nigeria Plc by supplying  them the  needed raw materials through our local farmers to increase their income and generate employment for the citizens. We will equally create platform where end users of raw materials and producers cum processors could discuss and see benefits both stand to gain while working together ”
While assuring the company of security of lives and property  in the State, Prince Oyewole called for mutually benefited arrangements from the company and urged them to  forward policies that would promote agricultural practices at State and Federal level to the ministry for recommendation.
In his remarks, the Managing Director, Nestle Nigeria Plc, Mr. Mauricio Alarcon said the company is committed in making life bearable for farmers and make difference in various localities through production of varieties of quality products.
Mr . Alarcon hinted further that the company is ready to transact with rightful producers and processors  who are trustworthy and capable of meeting up with company’ s demand on continuous basis.
“We are ready to make strong financial commitment with the Oyo State Government. The important thing at this juncture is to establish solid institutional relationship and make loyalty a watchword .” He noted.
