Gov. Seyi Makinde Flagged Off The Construction Of 360 Housing Units At The Ajoda New Town Estate, Egbeda LGA.

Earlier today, Wednesday, 23rd of September 2020,  Gov. Seyi Makinde flagged off the construction of Three Hundred and Sixty (360) Housing Units jointly sponsored by the Oyo State Government and Remax Realtors Limited at Ajoda New Town Housing Estate, Egbeda Local Government Area, Ibadan.

The Governor in his address made it known that the project is in fulfillment of a part of his campaign promises as contained in the Roadmap for Accelerated Development in Oyo State, 2019-2023 which has the promise of facilitating a private sector driven housing scheme through variants of public- private partnership (PPP) initiatives.

He stated that the project is a PPP initiative with the Oyo State Government through the Oyo State Housing Corporation, and the Government has provided thirteen (13) hectares of land for the scheme, while the developers will solely finance the entire project.

The three hundred and sixty (360) housing units which will cost N2.5 Billion is made up of:

2-bedroom semi-detached houses;

3-bedroom semi-detached houses and

3-bedroom detached houses.

The Governor further stated that it was important to kick off in Ibadan as statistics have shown that the population of the capital city has been growing at over 2% since 2018 with a peak of over 2.5% in 2020, which means half of the population of Oyo State live in Ibadan Zone.

However, the scheme is set to be replicated in other parts of Oyo State in the shortest possible time.

Gov. Seyi Makinde noted that housing is an essential need and called on all members of the public who are interested in buying lands in any of the Government schemes to approach the appropriate Government agencies for such purpose as the Government is open to collaboration.
