07 May Oyo Charges Stakeholders on Effects of Covid-19 Pandemic on Children Ahead of Children Day.
Relevant stakeholders have been charged to reawaken their consciousness and responsibilities in securing the future of children in Oyo State and the nation at large.
The State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Inclusion, Alhaja Faosat Sanni gave the charge while inaugurating the Inter-ministerial State Planning Committee for year 2021 Children’s Day celebration, held at the conference room of the ministry.
While talking on the theme for the year, ‘Unite to reverse the impact of COVID-19 Pandemic on Children’, she said the day is usually observed on 27th May of every year with various activities and events adding that it is a period when the general populace is sensitized on the rights of children to survival, development, protection and participation.
“The theme is very apt, as it is important for all stakeholders to join forces to protect, keep our children safe and minimize the harmful effects of COVID-19 pandemic on them, most especially those in already disadvantaged or are in vulnerable situations, so they can realize their full potentials despite the odds staring them in their faces,” she said.
