Be Resourceful to States, Oyo Deputy Gov Advises SSGs

Oyo State Deputy Governor, Bayo Lawal, on Friday, charged the forum of Secretaries to the State Governments in the South-West region to work together for the growth and development of the zone.

Lawal gave this advice during a workshop facilitated by the Development Agenda for Western Nigeria Commission with the theme, ‘Defining the path in delivering Government agenda: The Role of SSG’, held in Ibadan, the State capital.

In a statement authorised by the media officer to the Secretary to the Oyo State Government and Head of Service, Abiodun Atilola, the Deputy Governor further called on SSGs to embrace regional integration, irrespective of their political parties to foster more development in the region.

Lawal admonished them to be resourceful and add value to the administration of their various States for accelerated development in the zone.

The Deputy Governor said Olanike Adeyemo had made a lot of fundamental reforms as she came on board as the State SSG, adding that she made the office so visible and pronounced.

He said, “South-West Governors put heads together to create Amotekun because of the security challenges that are bedeviling the region. It was only the two States that embraced the creation of the security outfit; that is Oyo and Ondo States.”

In her remarks, the Oyo SSG, Adeyemo said the meeting afforded her colleagues the opportunity to provide the support required to drive regional integration which, according to her, is one the forefront mandate of the DAWN Commission.

Responding, the Director General, the DAWN Commission, Seye Oyeleye, appreciated the State Governor, Seyi Makinde, for his (Makinde) support for the programmes of the commission.
