In compliance with the directive of the Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, that all the primary school teachers in the State yet to be put on the payroll of Pensioners from August 2018 till date should be interviewed and payrolled, so as to enable them to start collecting their monthly pension with effect from the end of August 2019, the exercise has commenced in earnest at the Local Government Staff Pension Board, water corporations building, Secretariat, Ibadan.
In her address to the Pensioners during the week long exercise, the Pension Board Secretary, Dr. (Mrs) Ayodele Busari appreciated the State Government under the able leadership of Engr. Seyi Makinde, for coming to the rescue of the primary school teachers who had yet to be payrolled since August 2018 due to paucity of fund, and his directive that their pension should be paid on 100 percent basis as well as the anticipated release of funds to defray the backlog of pension arrears.
“Abinitio, primary school teachers used to collect their pension on percentage basis, however, since the inception of this administration under His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde, the Governor in his magnanimity has directed that all the Pensioners should be paid their 100 percent pension without any ado, and this directive has been complied with by our Board. ” Dr. Busari explained.
On the exercise, the executive secretary of the Board expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the senior citizens which she said had been very peaceful and cooperative. “Although the stress is telling on us career officers, we know that it’s time bound, and the beauty of it is that it has been a huge success so far , to the glory of God Almighty.”
Responding on behalf of the Pensioners, Mr. Salawu Alao, Mrs. Kareem Fatima and Mrs. Olatunbosun Lydia appreciated God for giving Oyo State a Governor with the milk of human kindness at this point in time, with the prayers that Governor Seyi Makinde and his family would continue to enjoy the mercy of God. They equally commended staff of the Pension Board under the charismatic leadership of Dr. Ayodele Busari, for giving them a very warm reception and fair treatment, with unimaginable patience, considering their old age. They then urged the Government to release fund on time for the payment of their gratuity.
